About Christine

Soprano Christine Hollinger is an active performer in Santa Barbara’s musical community, singing in many ensembles and teaching piano and voice lessons.  Recent engagements include soprano solo appearances with the Santa Barbara Master Chorale and Santa Ynez Valley Master Chorale, conducting the Santa Barbara Children’s Chorus, and appearing as a regular member of the Opera Santa Barbara Chorus as well as the Music Academy of the West Community Opera Chorus.

Over the past few years she has made many appearances as soprano soloist with the Santa Barbara Master Chorale under the direction of Dr. Steve Hodson in works including the Verdi Requiem, Bach Mass in B Minor, and Mendelssohn's Elijah. She has also soloed in the Mozart Requiem with the Santa Ynez Valley Master Chorale under the direction of Chris Bowman. For eight seasons, Christine served as the soprano section leader for the Santa Barbara Choral Society, which in addition to its own full season regularly provides the chorus for performances by the Santa Barbara Symphony as well as the State Street Ballet. On the recital stage, she has premiered the comic mini-opera Big Brains (dot) Com by the late Santa Barbara composer, William Ramsay, at the Music Academy of the West's Hahn Hall, as well as many of his original songs for soprano and piano.

Christine also loves singing with The Adelfos Ensemble, a local chamber choir, and with the Chancel Choir of First Presbyterian Church.

Christine graduated with a Master of Music degree from University of California, Santa Barbara, where she appeared in opera scenes and productions, and won the department’s Soloist Competition, which led to a featured concert with the UCSB Orchestra. Originally from Minneapolis, MN, she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Music at Southwest Minnesota State University where she had many leading roles in both the Theater and Music Departments.
