Christine Hollinger, Soprano | Artist & Educator

Soprano, Christine Hollinger is a classically trained vocalist, educator, and conductor with extensive experience in concert solo, opera, choir, and music education. Her work as both a performer and teacher is grounded in a commitment to musical excellence and belief in the development of the individual voice as well as musicality of each student.

As a soprano soloist, Christine has performed major works of the choral and orchestral repertoire, including Verdi’s Requiem, Bach’s Mass in B Minor, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, and Mozart’s Requiem. She has appeared as a soloist with the Santa Barbara Master Chorale and Santa Ynez Valley Master Chorale and has performed with Opera Santa Barbara and the Music Academy of the West Opera Chorus. She served as section leader for the Santa Barbara Choral Society, and in performances with the Santa Barbara Symphony and State Street Ballet.

Christine premiered works of composer William Ramsay (deceased) such as Big Brains (dot) Com, a comic mini-opera as well as his original song cycle and other works for soprano and piano.

As an educator, Christine has taught both voice and piano and has experience working with singers at different stages of musical development. She conducted the Music Academy of the West SING! Children’s Chorus as well as the Santa Barbara Children’s Chorus. Her teaching emphasizes healthy and efficient vocal technique, musicianship, artistry, confidence, and the development of an individual singer’s expressive voice. She especially values helping students connect technical understanding with meaningful musical communication.

Christine holds a Master of Music degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Southwest Minnesota State University and is currently based in Serbia.
